Time-tested, trusted and patented for over 50 years.
Feldmeier Equipment's sanitary smooth tubular Heat Exchangers carry the 3A symbol and meet USDA, USPHS and all local Health Department requirements. They are used for any liquid product with or without particulates and are found throughout the world in the dairy, food, beverage, egg processing and pharmaceutical industries.
Triple Tube Heat Exchangers
The Feldmeier Triple Tube™ Heat Exchanger consists of an inner tube, an intermediate tube and an outer tube, concentrically mounted. The heating or cooling medium travels in one direction through the inner tube and through the annular space between the intermediate and outer tubes. The product flows in the opposite direction through the annular space between the inner tube and the intermediate tube. This produces counter flow action with more heat transfer surface area per linear foot of tube than a Double Tube Heat Exchanger.
Triple Tubes are used to process milk, cream, ice cream mix, yogurt and all milk based products; liquid whole egg, egg white, plain or sugar or salted egg yolk and egg mixes; beverages; fruit purees and juice concentrates.
Double Tube Heat Exchangers
The Feldmeier Double Tube Heat Exchanger consists of an inner tube and an outer tube mounted concentrically. The heating or cooling medium travels in one direction through the outer tube and the product flows in the opposite direction through a single inner tube in counter flow fashion allowing for gentle handling of shear sensitive products and large particulates. A welded version of the Double Tube Heat Exchanger can also be designed for ASME certified applications such as refrigerant cooling or high-pressure steam heating.
In addition to the products listed in the Triple Tube section, Double Tubes are also used for tomato sauces, products with larger particulates and products with high corrosion potential (brines and high salt products).
Multi Tube Heat Exchangers
The Feldmeier Multi-Tube Heat Exchanger consists of several inner tubes in a single outer media tube constructed in a welded hairpin arrangement to allow for thermal expansion. The heating or cooling medium travels in one direction through the outer tube and the product flows in the opposite direction through the inner tubes in counter flow fashion Removable 180º bends insure the inner tubes are completely accessible from one end of the heat exchanger and are internally supported to eliminate tube sag. Available tube sizes are 1/2" OD and 3/4" OD inner product tubes in quantities of 4 to 33 tubes, arranged in outer media tubes ranging from 2-1/2" OD to 6" OD.
Because of the welded design and fewer parts, Multi-Tubes can be a more cost effective choice. Also, many applications are better suited to a Multi-Tube rather than a Double Tube or Triple Tube for product and spatial considerations. Multi-Tubes can be used for processing milk, liquid foods, beverages, concentrates and pharmaceuticals.
Ammonia or HFC Direct Coolers
The welded hairpin construction of Feldmeier Equipment's Double Tube and Multi-Tube Heat Exchangers is an ideal solution for direct ammonia or HFC cooling applications. By using ammonia or an HFC refrigerant as the product-cooling medium instead of propylene glycol, substantial electrical savings can be attained; and the capital, operating and maintenance costs of a glycol cooling system can be eliminated.
Feldmeier Ammonia Coolers can be supplied with stainless steel ASME certified Surge Drums including piping, mounting supports and controls.
Torpedo CIP Solution Heaters
The Feldmeier Torpedo sanitary CIP Solution Heater is a 7' long single pass Multi-Tube Series 27 or 33 consisting of several 1/2" OD or 3/4" OD inner tubes in a single 6" OD outer media tube. With all-welded ASME certified construction, the Torpedo has been designed to heat from 100 GPM to 450 GPM of water or CIP solution at 20ºF to 50ºF per pass using up to 100 PSI steam.
Ice Builders
Feldmeier Ice Builders are designed to generate and store cooling capacity for use at a later time in applications where chilled water is used for comfort or process cooling. Ice generation takes place during no-load periods, storing up enough refrigeration capacity to meet daily requirements, utilizing smaller compressor equipment than would be required for instantaneous cooling. In addition, peak process cooling usually occurs at the same time as peak energy demand, so off-peak ice generation can provide lower energy costs.
Feldmeier Ice Builders are constructed with all stainless steel water contact surfaces, including the refrigerant coil, air agitation piping and box liner, for long-term corrosion resistance. Feldmeier Ice Builders can be designed with ammonia or HFC refrigerant. Stainless steel ASME certified Ammonia Surge Drums including piping; mounting supports and controls can also be provided.
