SMOOTH
TUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS
Feldmeier's smooth tube Heat Exchangers are used for any
liquid product with or without particulates and are found
throughout the world in the dairy, food, beverage, egg processing
and pharmecutical industries. Feldmeier was the originator
of the concept of sanitary tubular heaters, regenerators, and
coolers being cleaned-in-place. The Triple Tube was
the first Fluid Milk HTST Pasteurizer to be approved by USPHS
and the New York City Health Department for CIP with no disassembly
required. Triple Tubes track record is unsurpassed throughout
the world.
The Triple Tubes and Double Tubes have removable tubes.
Should a pin hole develop the tubes can be pulled from either
end and can be welded or replaced. The replacement tube is
standard - not wrinkled, puckered, corrugated, spiral
or welded to the next one so that replacement tubes are not
"special" and thus costly. Removable tubes make
inspections possible and easy.
Teflon seals are used throughout. No rubber or rubber-like
gaskets are used. These absorb moisture and harbor bacteria.
Teflon is as inert as the surrounding stainless steel. If
left undisturbed Teflon seals will last forever. Teflon replacement
seals are stock items at the factory and if needed can be
sent overnight.
Smooth tubes allow predictable and constant velocities. As
easy to clean as any other tube in the plant.
With smooth tubes there are no interruptions to cause excessive
pressure drops, therefore the pressure drops are lower in
a Feldmeier Unit than any other.. This permits fewer parallel
passes. Fewer parallel passes result in more positive CIP
cleaning and also lowers the volume requirements for the heating
and cooling medium. When a tube is corrugated, wrinkled, heavily
dimpled or spiraled the obstruction causes a high pressure
drop so the flow must be diverted to another parallel pass
or several parallel passes. Each pass requires a certain volume
of heating or cooling medium to affect reasonable velocity.

| Bolted stainless steel
flanged joints and Teflon gasketing provides tubular assembly
that allows each tube to be dismantled separately. Tear-down
of the unit is not required. Only the tube to be
inspected needs to be removed without disturbing the remainder
of the tube assembly. |
All units are fabricated to the customer's specifications
and assembled by qualified assemblers at our Syracuse factory.
Delivery times can be adjusted to meet customer's production
schedules. Our engineers will design your Heat Exchanger to
give optimum velocities for the product and the heating and
cooling medium. Tube combinations are from ½" OD to
8" OD in Triple Tube , Double Tube, and Multi-Tube
design. Units can be designed to use stainless steel tubing
in C256MO, AL6XN and Titanium. Product contact surfaces finish
as smooth as 150 grit or 180 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit, or electropolished.
Up to 85% Regeneration can be achieved in Feldmeier's Triple
Tubes and Double Tubes. Regeneration will provide tremendous
savings on utility bills.
Almost any liquid product can be pasteurized through a Feldmeier
Heat Exchanger. Examples of previous products heated, cooled
and/or pasteurized are: milk, cream, pulpy orange juice, grape
mash, apple mash, liquid eggs. Spaghetti sauce (with or
without particulates), mince meat, pickle relish, WFI etc. Range
of temperatures go from 300°F heating to 32°F cooling.
